Family Time - Parenting Children

What is Family Time Parenting Children?
It is a six week course which helps parents to take time out to reflect and gain inspiration from others, as well as finding a fresh vision for their family. Our desire is that everyone who does the course gains insight into how to bring up their children confidently and to the glory of God.

Who is it for?
It is for parents who are either just starting out and looking for direction as to how to begin or those parents who are seeking fresh input into their parenting. For those who are married we encourage both parents to attend the course.

A typical evening?
We begin at 7.45pm with a talk which will be followed by refreshments and then discussion groups. The evening will finish at 10pm.

What are people’s experience of the course?

“I feel I have been given a gift of a very full tool kit to use for the rest of my life”

“An excellent course. It gave us lots of food for thought and also made us more confident”

“ I have found the course very supportive and enlightening”

“Brilliant, enjoyable. I thought 10 weeks would be a long time but it flew by. I would recommend this course to all parents of young ,and older, children”

“This course has given a real sense of direction for our own lives as well as the way we parent our children”

We look forward to seeing you on our next course in Autumn 2010

Family Time - Parenting Teenagers

What is Family Time Parenting Teenagers?
It is a six session course developed by Paul and Christine Perkin. This course provides a wonderful opportunity for parents to connect with other parents facing similar issues through the teenage years. Parents of teenagers easily become isolated from each other when there is no more standing at the school gate or collecting children from each other’s homes. This course provides a place for ongoing friendship and support. It also provides an opportunity to take a fresh look at our parenting – at the relationship we have built with our children and how we can help that to grow. It aims to help parents identify the areas in which they are strong, and those where they wish to improve.

Who is it for?
Sometimes it feels like your teenage children are living in another world. Family Time Parenting Teenagers is for all parents who want to retain a guiding hand in their teenagers' lives, while learning to give them the space they need to stretch their wings and fly.

A typical evening?
We begin at 7.30pm with supper or light refreshments followed with a talk and exercises. Then we have coffee and cake at 9.15pm and move into discussion groups which end by 10pm.

What does the Course Cover?

  • The Teenage Universe
  • Teenage Communication
  • Teenage Growth
  • Teenage Tensions
  • Teenage Issues
  • Teenage Pressures

What are people’s experiences of the course?
'It gave us fresh hope and motivation to reconnect with our teenager.'

'The course allowed us to be real about our struggles.'

'After our first classic teenage confrontation, we referred back in desperation to the handbook. It all began to make sense! It was so helpful to remind each other how we might handle it differently next time.'

‘It was such a relief to realise that we shared similar experiences with other parents of teenagers – we weren’t the only ones!’

‘We loved getting together with other parents in a relaxed atmosphere.’

‘We enjoyed the discussion groups when we looked at the different scenarios – they were very real to life and made us think very practically about some of the issues.’

We look forward to seeing you on our next course in Summer 2010
